Washington PD has an important message for you! We are experiencing an increase in unoccupied cabins & cottages being entered and damaged. The reports are coming from owners & caretakers of weekend and vacation homes. Some of the reports are coming in weeks or months after the break-in may have occurred. Most seem to be in the Highland Lake area. 

All Washington residents are encouraged to be alert for people or vehicles in neighborhoods that are not recognized to be residents, owners or visitors. 

To report suspicious or illegal activities please call our Dispatch Center at 603-495-3233 or 911 for emergencies. DO NOT call the office and leave a message on the voice mail. 

Homeowners are also reminded that the Washington Police Department has a Vacant House Check program for residents leaving for the season. Please go to our web site at http://www.washingtonnh.org/PDforms.htm and print the Vacant House Check Form. Complete the form and return it to the Police Department by US Mail, e-mail or fax. All the addresses and phone numbers are on the form. It can also be dropped off in person at the police station or with Michelle in Town Hall during business hours.
